Feelin' Myself

October 25th through 28th. Here goes.

Friday the 25th, me and Halima went to get our hair done. Woke up early and headed to Itaewon because getting your hair done is seriously an all-day event. Halima needed to get her hair relaxed. And I...had no idea what I was going for. At the hair place, the ajumma convinced me to get what was called a "magic straight perm". After a 3-step process and 4 hours of being in the salon, our hair was done and now I don't have unruly frizzy wavy hair. I told my mom and she just complained about me wasting money on my hair (even though she suggested I get my nose done while I was in Korea). Yeah...my mom's weird. For lunch, we went to Home Plus in Hapjeong and their cafeteria has reasonably-price and delicious food. I ordered the chicken cutlet with omurice. It was magical! Halima got some spicy octopus thing with fried-rice. It was delicious too but spicy. Really spicy.

I also had a midterm that day so after my midterm, me and my friends went to a bar and for $15, you get all you can drink cocktails. The drinks had virtually no alcohol in them, mainly fruit-juice, but they were good. After that, we went club-hopping in Hongdae. A bunch of people were wearing Halloween costumes (yes, already) and it was flippin' freezing. Two things I learned from this outing. 1. Some people have really strange costumes and they have no business wearing it. And 2. Taco Bell here is super expensive for no reason.

Saturday I slept all day until I had to go to this flannel-themed birthday party in Yeouido Park. You couldn't tell the party had a theme because it was freakin' freezing. It was fun though...even if I couldn't feel my fingers. Sunday was the same. Didn't do much. Went to church and slept through the whole thing (sorry > . <) and had jajangmyeon and tangsooyook. Told yah I'm getting addicted. After that, me and my friends went shopping for another birthday gift for another friend and went home.

Today, the 28th, I had class and went to dance class. Today's dance lesson was break dancing. Yeah...you read it right. We just learned basic choreo and two freezes. One of which I couldn't do. I tried but failed miserably. I even landed wrong and hurt my shoulder. Now it's bruised. *Cries* Before dance class, I went to another birthday party but this time, it wasn't outside. We just went out for dinner; and for dinner, we had grilled meat. If you didn't know, meat is my favorite food. I'm sure I could eat like 8 servings of meat by myself. I don't know if that's good for you but I don't really care. It was good and that's all that matters.

If you're wondering about the title of this blog entry, I will explain it for you. Ever since I got my hair done, I've felt fabulous all weekend. Hence, the name of this blog entry. Can't explain it any other way. I totally dig myself. And really, what's not to like? I'm awesome. And thus, I end on that note. ^ ^

October 14th to 24th

Sorry I haven't updated in while you guys. Honestly not trynna neglect y'all, promise. Not like y'all read this regularly anyway, but still. Okay so there's really not much to talk about because I didn't do much or go anywhere. In fact, I was sick for like forever and it was awful. I was coughing and light-headed and at one point, I'm pretty sure I coughed up blood. Yeah...not fun. But, I'm okay now...for the most part. Wish I could remember what I did on what day but I can't so I'm going to just wing it and summarize these last two weeks. So...here goes...

Basically these last two weeks consisted of me going to dance class (as usual), and eating a lot. In fact, I'm pretty sure all I did everyday was eat. I know it's bad but...food is good. You know what's funny though? Apparently my aunt had a dream that I was emaciated, pale, and depressed because I was starving here. Folks, I can honestly tell you, I am not starving or emaciated. In fact, I eat all the time and I can have people vouch for that. It's honestly ridiculous how much I eat. I even eat when I'm not hungry because I can! And you know what that means? Well for one, it means I'm not starving and two, it means I need to hit the gym stat before I blow up like fourth of July fireworks. But moving on.

Yeah, aside from consuming large quantities of food, I also had midterms and I must say, they are the devil. Only had 4 hours of sleep in the span of like 3 days because I was studying. I don't know how they went so don't ask. All I know is that it was all a giant blur. After hours of late-night cramming, I didn't even know what I was studying. Like I walked into my Japanese oral exams speaking Korean...it was that bad. But since I can only remember what I ate since I took pictures of it, I shall talk about that.

Uhhh so I went to this jajangmyeon place (on some day that I don't recall) and ordered over-priced jajangmyeon and tangsooyook (kinda like sweet and sour pork but more sweet than sour). It was delish but expensive. Quite frankly, jajngmyeon is becoming some kind of addiction. I don't even know why. Guess I just like noodles. I also decided to straighten my hair before so I'd look less like a mess just because I was sick (selfie below). Feeling pretty cures the common cold right?

On another day before dance class (probably a Thursday), I went to a fish n' chips restaurant. What was I doing there? Well, obviously not eating fish n' chips because I'm allergic. I had beer-battered calamari. I tasted no beer, and the calamari was good but oily. Really oily...

On that next Thursday (the 24th?), after dance class I went to grab tacos at my favorite taco place. He made renovations and it looks nice now. I also took a picture of the taco guy this time. Tee hee. Since I already talked about the food there, I shall move on.

One night for dinner, I went to a place called _________ Deli with my friends. It didn't served deli food. In fact, it served cutlet, spaghetti, "steak" (aka a beef patty), and fried rice. I had BBQ chicken fried rice without the BBQ sauce. It was good. And the little cabbage salad they give you was my favorite part. I really like these little cabbage salad thing. Don't know what kind of dressing they put on it, but I'm convinced one of the main ingredients is crack.

One another day within those past two weeks, me and Halima went to a study cafe. Since she has like a terrible sense of direction and can't read maps, it took us 2 hours to find the place. It was a nice place but by the time I got there, my feet were throbbing and I didn't care to study. Good thing I had my favorite spaghetti for lunch before I went. Oh, and the drinks there are also ridiculously expensive cuz I guess you're paying for the atmosphere of the place too. Nice atmosphere really but I don't know how other people feel about paying $7 for tea. Speaking of drinks, the mint hot chocolate at Ediya Coffee is the bomb. This has nothing to do with the study cafe, but I figured I'd letcha know.

Also on Thursday the 24th, me, Edward and Halima met up to buy birthday gifts for people we know. We ate brunch first and I had kimbap and rice with fish roe cooked in a stone pot. It was delicious and cheap and delicious.

Now I shall go off on a tangent and tell you this. Glasses here are crazy cheap. Honestly, I was in glasses heaven. Tried on just about every other pair in that place. I went to get colored contacts, hence the picture of me with blur contacts, but after trying on the glasses, I had to buy em. Couldn't decide so I got both pairs and I love em. My roomie really shouldn't take me to places like this...I end up broke. Who can be so blissfully content in a place that sells glasses? This girl.

Bonnie & Clyde

 October 12th and 13th:

So...how shall I begin this post. How about I start with Saturday the 12th. I honestly, don't really remember what I did. I think I just went to Yongsan. Yup sure did. So, I went to Yongsan and got a new used phone from the electronics market there. It was only 130,000 won and I like it. After that, me and Halima just mosied on over to I'Park Mall and watched the HAC Teenager Dance Competition. The dancing was...alright. I'm not really one to talk since I couldn't do better even if I tried. But nonetheless, all the students seemed to have a passion for dance and I commend that. They seemed like nice kids. ^ ^ And now I sound incredibly old so I'm going to move on. When we got home, it was freezing so we ordered take-out from Mr. Chicken. You know they don't charge a delivery fee here? How great is that?!?

Sunday, I went to see Bonnie & Clyde the Musical with Halima. The musical was...an experience. It was in Korean so I didn't really know what the dialogue entailed but I could sort of get the gist of what was going on. Basically, we only went to see it because Key of SHINee would be playing Clyde. The singing was...subpar? I don't know...I just felt it left something to be desired. That's why I said it was an experience. I don't regret going to watch it, nor do I think it was awful. It was just...okay and interesting to watch. After the show, girls rushed down to the basement to try and catch a glimpse of Key leaving which I found ridiculous. There was like a massive pack of them! All of whom were young. Poor girls...Anywho, that's what happened this weekend. ^ . ^

Dancing and Celebrities

Wow...this week has been absolutely mind-blowing. Wanna know what I did from the 8th to the 11th? Well, I'll tell you. Just keep reading.

Okay so on Tuesday (the 8th) I did well on my quiz, napped, and went to my Korean class where I learn exactly what I learned a year ago. (Yes, I am salty.) But anywho, after all off that boring nonsense, I went to a dance workshop taught by a choreographer named Mary. Her dance was super difficult, and super fun. Quite frankly, I'm still sore but I remember all of the choreo. I'm no dancer but having the opportunity to do this and just enjoy myself makes me happy. After dance class, two Korean girls came up to me and Halima and totally wanted to be friends. How cool and cute is that? We met the director of the workshop and he was surprised we knew Korean. His English was good...even if he only knew a couple of phrases and he was a total trip. But he did inform me and Halima that we could take Mary's regular classes although we weren't students at the Arts Center. How absolutely amazing is that? After a long chat with everybody, me and Halima went to eat dinner. We had beef BBQ which was delicious and expensive. (My treat.) And that just about concludes the Tuesday I had. I think we also ended up at the convenient store for dessert or something which is honestly becoming a bad bad habit for us.

Wednesday was filled with a lot of dancing. Very tiring, fun and amazing, body-breaking dancing. But before I go into that, I just wanted to say, for lunch, me and Halima went to Food Cafe and they have the best kimbap I've had so far. Anywho, moving on. So as I was saying, dancing. Long story short, I went to a dance workshop with classes taught by Shaun Evaristo, Nick DeMoura, Jblaze, and JonBoogiee. The classes were challenging and it really pushed me wayyyyyyyyyyy out of my comfort zone considering how I've only started learning to dance like a month ago. Honestly, I felt way in over my head since everyone in the class was amazing. But, nonetheless, I pushed myself through it and had a great time. (6 hours of dancing and sweat is pouring out of every pore in my body...sounds fun right? lol)

I also ran into Min from Miss A at the workshop. Granted I didn't know it was her at first but I wasn't star-struck at all. She's just a super normal, chill girl who is literally the life of the party. How do I know that? Well after the workshop, I went and ate BBQ with the workshop instructors and some dancers. The atmosphere was good and it was loads of fun. They're all really great people. They went out after dinner for round two of drinks but I didn't go because it was 3am  by then and I had class. And thus, I move on to Thursday.

Thursday, I went to class and the projector didn't work so my professor went old-school and lectured from the PowerPoint on his smart phone. Haha. Then I ate lunch with my roomie and my adorable introverted friend Lorna. (I'm seriously getting addicted to the Baloise Cream Spaghetti from the cafeteria.) Then I went shopping in Idae where I spent $60 worth of $5 and $10 items. All of which were bought for dance purposes. Who would even think I'd end up doing that? Like, seriously, my dancing is so awkward. But anywho, had to come back for Korean class. Although I haven't been going for a while, I went to Thomaz's dance class and learned the second half of "Can We Chill". And now I move on the the highlight of the evening.

After class, Halima, Thomaz, his friend Yoro, and I go to Jay Park's AOMG Launch Party where we meet up with Nneka and Carmen. After being in like for 30 mins, we finally get in and there's naked real-people statues, random games for people to play, and a stage with giant speakers blasting music. Thomaz won me a beanie and a hoodie. ^ . ^ At the party there were performances throughout the night. The first involved naked girls with fake breasts and it was slightly disturbing. (Mostly cuz I'm a girl and seeing all that is well...disturbing.) After then were live performances by Beenzino, Illionare, Zion T, Dok2, and Jay Park. He is wayyyyyyyyyyyy more extra in person. And his voice more high-pitched. There were a whole bunch of celebrities there too: like CL, Hyoyeon, Psy, Justin Beiber, etc... I only say G-Dragon though, and he's shorter than I thought. Mind you, it was a passing glance.

At 3am, Halima, Sarah, and I decided to leave and we run into Eli and Kevin from U-Kiss. We had a short little conversation and Kevin claimed he was our "oppa" which I found super awkward and endearing at the same time. We take a cab to McDonald's, ate dinner, and reflected on our night. I all but pass out on my bed when I finally get home and slept until 6pm on Friday. I guess all the dancing took its toll on my body. Plus I was getting sick. Did I mention I actually had a quiz in one of my classes and considering how I didn't attend any of my classes...you can tell how well it went.

And so after I wake up, I shower and Halima informs me we got tickets to a jazz concert. All proceeds from the concert goes to a fund that helps pay for orphans to go to college. The concert was great. I really enjoy all types of music so I was happy to have gotten that opportunity. Coming back home, it was freezing. Now, I'm more sick than ever and I can't sleep cuz my body is switching from hot to cold. Nonetheless, my week was great.

Sorry but I don't have many pictures to share. I know, crazy week and no pictures. I blame the crappy phone. My bad guys...I will keep my digital in my bag from now on.

Can We Chill?

I believe this is the October 5th-7th post. And if it isn't, too bad because my days are all running together...as per usual. I blame senioritis.

Okay so Saturday the 5th, I lounged around in my room until about 3:30 trying to figure out what to do with my life. It was super uneventful. Everyone kind of had plans but I wanted to go shopping and it's not really any fun by yourself. Then my friend Yunsoo said she was going to we headed to Myeongdong. Honestly, we didn't spend much time there. Just kinda browsed about. I bought a bunch of food and a pair of leggings. Just so you guys know, the KFC here does not have mashed potatoes. You get french friends...yup. French fries. The McDonald's is pretty good though but you don't get honey mustard. In fact, only the KFC has honey mustard. After shopping, I got back and went on another date with oppa. I enjoyed it.

On Sunday I went to church where the preacher talked about dealing with debt. It was honestly quite a good message even if I accidentally slept through part of it. (I was super tired.) I know it's odd to attend church when I'm Buddhist but...everybody deals with debt right? Right after church, me and Halima attended a free k-pop concert in Gangnam. Before that, we went to a restaurant where I got jjajangmyeon and it was legit, the best I've had so far. At the concert, Exo, Girl's Day, Inifinte, and Shinee performed. I had a perfect view...of the giant monitors and it was great. All the performances were good (some groups mostly lip-synced which was...no comment) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably because where I stood, no one was crowding me. If they did I would've been upset.

Today I woke up, showered, did homework, went to class, took a nap, went to another class, ate dinner, and went to dance class (all in that order). Classes were...well...classes I supposed. Nothing special really. Dinner was delicious. I had dolsot bibimbap which is bibimbap cooked in a stone bowl so the rice is all nice and has a crunch to it. Side dishes included broccoli and I tore it up. Haven't had broccoli in so long. It was really magical. As for dance class, it was great as always and I think I'm getting better. Well that's all you guys. Hope you're not getting bored to death.

Now, I must get to studying since it is now 2:00am here and I believe I have procrastinated enough. Toodles!

So So So Happy!

So this post starts on the 30th. The day was kind of bad honestly. I was sick and didn't really do much. In fact, I didn't even go to my morning class because I felt absolutely awful. I did however, go to my Korean class and afterwards me and my roomie grabbed dinner. We both ordered this pork and rice dish which was really good. Sorry...I need to start writing the names of the food I eat so I remember. Dessert was chocolate cake. I also went to dance class and learned an awesome hiphop piece. It was super fun, challenging, and made me all sweaty and gross but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Oh, and at dance class, I met my friend's friends who were Australian. They came to Korea because they were in a Kpop Dance Festival contest thing. They were in fifth place I believe. And one of them was Vietnamese! Except she can definitely pass as a Chinese person or a Korean.

Uh...I had a quiz in my cultural psych class on Tuesday. Let's just say...it was bad. Like really bad.

Wednesday wasn't filled with much. Or at least I don't think it was. I had a Japanese vocabulary quiz that was slightly better than my cultural psych quiz but not by much. At night, I ate dinner with Anna. We went to this pricey restaurant and I ordered Bibim Neangmyeon. It was 9,000 won and wasn't very tasty. Then I went out to Hongdae with the Australian dance crew (yah know, the one I talked about above). We also went with the Indonesian dance crew that actually won first place in the contest. Man, can those kids party. I was stunned. Mostly because I wasn't even having fun. We went to this bar where a bunch of drunk Koreans kept pulling on me and junk and well...I don't really like that. Got home at like 6am...it was a super long night that I didn't enjoy.

Thursday the 3rd was a holiday so I didn't have classes. Instead I went shopping at Dongdaemun. It was A.O Crew's (the Australians) last day in Korea so it was kinda sad. Halima actually teared up a bit. I'm so gonna miss those guys...
Anywho, we shopped for a while and Halima kept buying everything in sight quite frankly. I walked away with a shirt and a dress. But I no longer have the dress since it didn't fit and Halima wants it. After shopping, I had a date! ^ . ^ He was super gorgeous and I had fun. That's all I will tell you about it. Hehe

Today, Friday the 4th, I went on a tour of the MBC Broadcasting Center since some classes were also cancelled. It was...alright. Everyone was being kind of touristy and annoying though. We saw a couple of celebrities (which, I don't really know) and one of them straight up said "don't take my picture." Honestly, I felt kind of bad for her. She had people invading her privacy all the time and the last thing she needed was a bunch of foreigners snapping pictures of her without her permission. I didn't take any pictures of people though because I didn't want to be THAT person. After the tour I took a cab with two more girls back to Sinchon so we could make it to our class. The rest of the group had chicken and bear by the Han River apparently.

When Korean class was done, me, Anna, Lily, and Halima went to eat dinner at the chicken place. (The one with the cream chicken.) I don't know if you guys know this, but Korea has the best chicken ever. When dinner was over, me, Anna, and Lily walked around Sinchon and shopped a bit. I bought hair products, hair bows, and a hair straightener. And...that's about all for this post. Sorry if I'm boring you guys to death. Not doing it on purpose. I'm just writing it mainly to remember the things I did my first time in Korea. And also to show off my wonderful pictures that lately haven't been so wonderful. (I blame the new crappy phone i got.) But yeah. Ta dah!

I want to own everything on this wall (from MBC).
